Snowmobiling
Sledheads from around the country travel to Colorado in the winter months to take advantage of the heavy snowfall and mountainous terrain. Between Gunnison National Forest, San Isabel National Forest and BLM(Bureau of Land Management) land surrounding Tomichi Lodge guests can explore thousands of acres within close proximity.
For those guests bringing their own snowmobiles, parking is available for trucks and trailers at the intersection of County Road 888 and County Road 887, where winter road maintenance ends 5.5 miles below the lodge. From the parking lot follow County Road 888 north past Snowblind campground, through/past the small town of White Pine (Go Slow!) and all the way to Tomichi Lodge. There are dozens of old mining roads winding through the area and Tomichi Pass is within reach.
Waunita Hot Springs is a 6-mile ride from the parking area, up and over Black Sage Pass. Guests can pay a daily use fee during the winter only.
Guests who want to rent snowmobiles and/or guided snowmobile tours should contact Monarch Snowmobile Tours. They are just a short drive away and provide rentals, guides, clothing/gear and group rates.
