Hot Springs

The mountains of Colorado are teeming with hot springs and the area around Tomichi Lodge is no different. “Tomichi” in ancient Ute Indian language means “hot water”. Guest may enjoy our on-site seasonl Cowboy Hot Tubs or drive to one of the nearby all natural hot springs in the area.

 

What are Cowboy Hot Tubs?

Two guest may comfortabley enjoy into the outdoor tub. Once the tub is full of water,

by placing wood into the attached wood burning stove, the tub begins to heat.

This can take up to 2-3 hours to aquire desired heat.

Only begin heating once tub is filled with water.

Hot Springs located near to Tomichi Lodge:

Waunita Hot Springs Ranch - about 40 minutes away

The closest known hot springs to Tomichi Creek are actually located to the west of Black Sage Pass, a lower altitude backcountry pass which connects County Road 888 to Waunita Hot Springs via County Road 887. Guests are allowed day access to Waunita Hot Springs during the winter and can either snowmobile over Black Sage Pass or drive out to Highway 50 and head west a dozen miles or so before exiting at the designated turn off. Soaking in the summer is only allowed for the overnight guests of Waunita Hot Springs.

Salida Recreation & Hot Springs Aquatics Center - about 1 hour and 15 minutes away

This all indoor hot springs recreational center is home to local Salidan's year round and offers one large pool, a large soaking pool with foundatins and several private rooms for soaking.


Antero Hot Springs - about 1 hour and 15 minutes away

 

Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort - about 1 hour and 30 minutes away

Mt. Princeton Hot Springs is a favorite among tourists as it offers a variety of large pools ranging intemperatures, a historic bathhouse and a full service spa. When Chalk Creek is low enough, natural spring fed pools line the banks of the creek and are warm enough to soak comfortably. During peak summer runoff the creek is too high and the pools are filled with icy mountain snowmelt.

Joyful Journey Hot Springs - about 1 hour and 30 minutes away

Joyful Journey is located south along Highway 285 in the San Luis Valley and offers a rustic soaking experience. A few pools are offered along with a full menu of onsite spa services. The hot springs’setting in the San Luis Valley floor is unique and memorable.

Valley View Hot Springs - about 1 hour and 40 minutes away

Valley View is the local’s favorite hot springs in the area offering a rustic experience with incredible views of the San Luis Valley. The pools have a much more natural setting with neighboring bat caves and hiking trails surrounding the property. Clothing is optional.
